Dr. Carl (Rodney) Crews, Jr. lived his early years in Deville, LA, a small farming community in central Louisiana. “It was a wonderful place to grow up. I am so thankful for my childhood there and the opportunities to have learned about the values of hard work, family, friends and faith. Those values still help guide me today.” Following the death of his father, Rodney’s family decided to move to Marshall, Texas, to be closer to relatives in Shreveport. He graduated from Marshall High School and then attended Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas, where he studied biological sciences, public relations and political science.
Helping Patients Achieve A Greater Quality of Life
After working in healthcare marketing for several years, Rodney recognized that he had a passion for helping sick people to not only reach full recovery, but to achieve a greater quality of life through maximum health. Working in the healthcare industry, he learned the difference between “sick” care and wellness and realized that maximum health didn’t come from a pill, but rather through the proper care of the spine, nervous system and diet. Ultimately, this realization inspired him to return to school to become a wellness expert–a chiropractic physician, and Parker University in Dallas was his first choice.
Excellence in Chiropractic Care
Rodney excelled at Parker, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Upon graduation day, he was given the distinct honor of being chosen as the recipient of the founder’s chiropractic philosophy award, the James W. Parker Award, the highest honor given to a graduate of each class.
Following school, Dr. Crews worked and trained in chiropractic offices in Grapevine, Texas and Fredericksburg, Virginia before returning to Shreveport to start his own clinic.
Since then, Dr. Crews has studied extensively in post-graduate training, including obtaining certifications in sports chiropractic care, Webster technique for maternal treatment during pregnancy and non-surgical spinal decompression.
Dr. Crews has also served as a municipal court appointed professional expert in the treatment of soft tissue injuries caused by automobile accidents.
A resident of Shreveport for 13 years, Dr. Rodney Crews is the proud husband of Megan Crews and father of two young boys, Maxwell and Henry. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church, downtown Shreveport, a member of the Shreveport Downtown Rotary, member of the local BNI Lagniappe Chapter and a member of the Better Business Bureau. He enjoys fishing, hunting, watching LSU football games, working on”DIY” projects and spending time with friends and family.
